Boys Basketball

Coach Joe Barrer is in his fourth year as Assumption’s Head Boys Basketball Coach. In his 4 seasons at Assumption, he has led the Knights to 3 state tournament appearances and the 2012 MAC regular season title with a 16-0 conference mark.

A 1999 graduate of Assumption, Barrer was a member of the 1998 MAC Championship basketball team and captain of the 1999 MAC and State Championship basketball team.

He went on to play at St. Ambrose University from 1999-2003, where he was a member of 3 MCC Championship teams, and 2 teams that advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. After earning his undergraduate degree, Barrer was a Graduate Assistant and Director of Basketball Operations at George Mason University from 2004-2007. The 2005-2006 George Mason team won the CAA Championship, advanced to the NCAA Final Four, and finished the year ranked #8 in the nation.

He spent one year as an Assistant Coach at Brother Rice High School in Chicago, IL, during the  2007-2008 season, and returned to Assumption after one year as Head Coach at Cedar Rapids Xavier in 2008-2009.
