The foreign language department offers French I, French II, French III, Honors French IV, Spanish I, Spanish II, Spanish III, and Honors Spanish IV. The foreign language classes at Assumption offer students the opportunity to explore other languages as well as cultures. French and Spanish are available to students, and both are accompanied by a club for students especially interested in French or Spanish.

Mrs. Lynn Day, an AHS '75 grad, teaches Spanish I and II at Assumption. She and her husband, Chad Steimle, have four children: Colleen, a junior at AHS, Tom, a freshman at AHS, and Kirsten and Caitlin at JFK.

Mr. Ian Campos-Holland is in his 2nd year at Assumption. Mr. Campos-Holand is a graduated of the University of Iowa with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Japanese, with certification to teach both. He has lived in Mexico and Japan.

Mrs. Jean Mayes is in her 19th year as our French teacher. She has lived and studied in France and has led numerous student groups throughout France. Jean visits weekly with native French speakers to retain her fluency. This spring, Jean is teaching World Civilizations for the Social Studies Department along with French I, II, and III and Honors French IV.
