The science department offers Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics, Issues in Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and Environmental Science, as well as Advanced Placement Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Labs are used as teaching resources in all science classes. Three years of science are required for graduation.
Mrs. Lori Forret began teaching at AHS in 1996. She and her husband Chris, are engaged in farming, and have two children, Brian and Megan. Lori has a Master’s in Teaching and Learning with Technology.

Mrs. Wendy Martin is in her 11th year as a member of Assumption's Science Department, and also servers as advisor for the Science Club. She and her husband, Rob, have three children: Calvin, a sophomore at Assumption, Erika, and Nathaniel. She has earned her Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology.

Mr. Joe Barrer, a 1999 graduate of Assumption, is in his 2nd year at AHS. After graduating from St. Ambrose University with a degree in Physical Education, Joe went on to earn his Master’s in Exercise, Fitness, and Health Promotion from George Mason University. In addition to his teaching duties, Joe will also serve as Assumption’s Head Boy’s Basketball coach. Joe is a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
