The social studies department teaches World Civilizations, U.S. History, American Government, AP American Government & Politics, Sociology, Psychology, Current Issues, and Law in American Society. Three years of social studies are required for graduation. These classes teach students about the history and current functioning of societies across the planet.
Mr. Dave Simpson is in his 15th year on the AHS faculty and is a 1982 alum. He teaches Psychology and U.S. History and is the Mock Trial advisor. Dave and his wife, Carol, belong to St. Paul’s Parish and have three children.

Mr. Kevin Murphy is in his 6th year at Assumption. In addition to teaching Government, Kevin is the technology coordinator. He is married to fellow Assumption faculty member Bridget Murphy. They have four children, Madeline, Brian, Michael, and John.

Mrs. Leslie LaCorte came to Assumption 5 years ago from Michigan. She teaches World Civ and directs the Drama/Theater program. Leslie is married to Dan, a history professor at St. Ambrose University, and has three charming kids: Helena, Isobel, and Peter.
